The US3 (Universal Systems Support Services) architecture is the heart of the Informant product line. It provides powerful paging and escalation features that are simply not available anywhere else. The US3 architecture is shared by all the Informant products, and can be extended easily using the built-in APIs to allow our systems to accept signals from monitoring packages already installed in your business, or we can reverse the flow, and send signals that we detect into a signal management system you already have (like HP OpenView). The US3 architecture has been designed and field tested with many different companies and many years of work. Filling in where other product systems (like SNMP or direct-query) fail, US3 solves these problems. And by combining the power of a ticketing and time tracking application, a complete solution begins to emerge.

With all these abilities it's easy to see how the Informant product line, already a step ahead of the rest, is far ahead of the pack.

1] EFS (Event Forwarding System) - A combination of hardware and proprietary ToolCASE-developed software that manages the detection, isolation, correlation, and transportation of events to the central dispatch and tracking system, TaskManager. The diagram below briefly explains the EFS transport architecture.

2] TaskManager - A web-based central paging, escalation, and event management application. TaskManager provides many ways of managing your events and alerts, and also contains tools for displaying alerts graphically, geographically, and as summary reports and graphs.

One of the major abilities of the US3 architecture is to combine many signaling sources (even in different locations) without the need for inbound firewall access - which assures that our software does not create a security risk, while still providing rock-solid signaling.

Major Features:

  • Guaranteed signal delivery - queue & GUID-based signaling engine assures that signals are processed, unlike SNMP or direct-query.
  • Full range of event management features available via web page, ticker (like a stock ticker), and any 2-way email pager or wireless email device.
  • Fully web-based graphical display - can be launched from anywhere, and shows all information no matter where the viewer is.
  • Time-tracking tied to event handling - track time spent on issues by staff and produce extensive reports on costs and time-spent.
  • Automated maintenance windows - schedule maintenance on systems and get quality assurance that all services are up after a maintenance window ends.
  • Powerful relational tree-based processing - network, host, operating system, application, and all other monitored devices can be arranged in a dependency tree to help diagnose problems at a glance.
  • System is entirely managed by ToolCASE as part of the licensing agreement - no need to worry about how to set it up or to dedicate staff hours and effort to setup and maintenance.
